Two residents of Bojonegoro tragically passed away from suspected food poisoning after  consum ing toxic grasshoppers found in the local teak forests. The victims, Hafid and Mr. Samian, were neighbors who unknowingly harvested and ate the dangerous grasshoppers. Dukohkidul village head, Sulibianto, attributed the incident to a lack of awareness about which grasshopper species are safe for consumption. The community is deeply saddened by the loss. The "Devil Grasshopper" ( Aularches miliaris ), also known as the foam grasshopper, northern spotted grasshopper, or coffee grasshopper, is a toxic insect native to Indonesia, particularly in the Dlingo area of Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. It possesses a self-defense mechanism that emits poisonous foam or a foul-smelling liquid, making it inedible. Additionally, it produces a creaking sound as another form of defense. These chemical traits have caused fatal incidents, highlighting the insect's danger.
