The program aims to reduce food waste by 70% across buka puasa buffets throughout the fasting month. Ramadan traditionally sees a surge in large-scale communal dining, often resulting in significant food waste. This year, Jakarta’s government, mosques, and hospitality sector are working together to change that pattern. Sustainable measures include reusable tableware, compost bins, elimination of single-use plastics, and sourcing from local organic farmers. Mosques such as Burj Al Bakrie are leading by example.
