Frigate HTMS Naresuan Collides with Dock during Naval Exercise at Map Ta Phut Naval Base

HTMS Naresuan The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) faced an unexpected setback during the Naval Security Port and Ship Map Ta Phut Exercise 2023 when the frigate HTMS Naresuan accidentally collided with the dock on July 26. The exercise aimed to enhance Thailand's maritime defense capabilities, with HTMS Naresuan participating alongside other vessels. Although no crew members were injured in the collision, the incident caused minor damage to the ship's port side, including a torpedo launching pad and a life raft. During the routine naval security exercise , HTMS Naresuan encountered a mishap as it was leaving the mooring at the Map Ta Phut Naval base. The frigate hit the dock at an angle, resulting in the damage to the vessel's port side. Adm Pokkrong Monthatphalin, the RTN spokesman, confirmed that a committee has been established to investigate the cause of the accident and evaluate the extent of the damage.
