  China's harsh drug laws have once again made headlines, this time focusing on senior executive Jochen Sengpiehl of German automaker Volkswagen . The chief marketing officer and director of product strategy for China was recently expelled from China after testing positive for drugs while returning from a trip to Thailand. This event emphasizes China's zero-tolerance policy on drug use, which applies to both citizens and foreigners, even when drug consumption occurs outside of national boundaries. Jochen Sengpiehl began having troubles when he tested positive for cocaine shortly after arriving in China. According to a statement from the Chinese foreign ministry, he was detained for ten days before being deported.
