DENR Issues Closure Order Against Viral Resort Near Chocolate Hills

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has taken decisive action against a resort in the protected region of Bohol's Chocolate Hills. Following the resort's rise to social media stardom, the DENR issued a temporary closure order and a notice of violation on Wednesday. Captain’s Peak Resort, the subject of the DENR's action, received the closure order on September 6, 2023, due to operating without an environmental compliance certificate (ECC). The resort was further served a Notice of Violation on January 22, 2024, for its lack of ECC compliance. In response to the violations, the DENR has mobilized a team to inspect the resort's adherence to the closure order. Regional Executive Director Paquito D.
