21 Dead and Dozens Injured in Indonesia U-20 World Cup Stadium Disaster

  The stampede during an Indonesia U-20 World Cup match at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on March 31st resulted in 21 deaths and more than 50 injuries.  The disaster occurred when spectators attempted to enter the stadium for the Indonesia vs. Oman match and were met with a bottleneck at one of the stadium's entrances.  The tragedy has raised concerns about the safety of sporting events in Indonesia and the absence of adequate preventative measures.
