Malaysia Leads Southeast Asia in Crafting Ethical Guidelines for AI Governance

Malaysia has become one of the first countries in Southeast Asia to define the route for artificial intelligence (AI) governance by developing a complete code of ethics and governance. This code, which is expected to be completed by next year, will serve as the foundation for AI regulation in the country, complying with the widely known Seven Principles of Responsible AI. This groundbreaking initiative is spearheaded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, along with key stakeholders from government agencies, higher education institutions, and industry players.
