In a significant turn of events, a Muntinlupa court delivered a verdict of acquittal for former Sen. Leila de Lima in the second drug charge against her. The case, which involved a prosecution star witness who admitted to making false allegations against the former senator, has now resulted in De Lima being freed from two out of three cases filed against her.

The Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Branch 204, in its ruling on Friday, acknowledged the lack of credible evidence and the questionable credibility of the witness. The acquittal marks a significant legal victory for De Lima, who has consistently maintained her innocence throughout the trial.
