Fire Breaks Out in Geylang, Singapore: Prompt Response Saves Lives and Property

On a Monday morning in the bustling township of Geylang, located in the central region of Singapore, a fire erupted in a shophouse, triggering an emergency response to protect lives and property. The incident occurred at 61 Geylang Lorong 27, prompting the evacuation of approximately 30 individuals from neighboring units. Swift action from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was essential to combat the blaze and prevent further damage.

The SCDF was alerted to the fire at around 7:30 am local time. The flames originated on the third floor of the shophouse and quickly spread, consuming the rooftop and endangering the adjacent unit. The situation called for immediate action, and 50 firefighters and twelve emergency vehicles were deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control.

Amidst the rapidly evolving situation, firefighters skillfully employed four water jets, directing powerful streams of water to douse the flames. Their coordinated efforts paid off, as they managed to contain and extinguish the blaze within an hour. Thanks to their bravery and professionalism, the fire was brought under control, preventing any injuries and minimizing damage to the property.
