Urgent Search and Rescue: Missing Fishermen in Miri Waters

A somber incident unfolded in the waters of Sungai Tutoh, Apoh Baram, as a longboat carrying six individuals encountered an unfortunate fate. Four fishermen and a disabled Penan man went missing after their boat capsized, sending shockwaves through the community and spurring a race against time to find them.

The harrowing incident triggered an immediate search and rescue operation, which saw the deployment of a helicopter and collaboration between the Miri Civil Defense Force (APM), Marine Police, Bomba, and the Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). The joint efforts aimed to locate and save those missing, providing a glimmer of hope in an otherwise tragic situation.

Amidst the gloom, a moment of relief emerged when two of the missing men, Mohd Firdaus Mustaqim and Mohammad Azrul, were miraculously rescued by fellow fishermen near Kuala Bakam. However, as the rescued men's fate is secured, the search continues for the remaining individuals.
