Mayon Volcano has made 184 volcanic earthquakes recorded within the past 24 hours
Mount Mayon, widely known as Mayon Volcano, has been displaying increased activity, prompting authorities to issue alerts and closely monitor the situation. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a significant release of 1,689 tonnes of sulfur dioxide from the volcano on Sunday.
Aside from the sulfur dioxide emission, Mayon Volcano also registered nine volcanic earthquakes on the same day. These seismic events, along with 184 volcanic earthquakes recorded in the past 24 hours, highlight the need for constant vigilance and precautionary measures.
With its dedicated focus on monitoring volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis, PHIVOLCS provides essential information to ensure the safety and well-being of the local population. The institute's latest bulletin also revealed three dome-collapse pyroclastic density current (PDC) events and 238 rockfall events, raising concerns among geologists and experts.
