Good Vibes Festival Appeals to Ticket Holders to Support Struggling Music Event

The unforeseen cancellation of Malaysia's Good Vibes Festival (GVF) has prompted a heartfelt plea from its organizers, urging ticket holders to consider relinquishing their refunds to aid the festival's uncertain future. The festival, originally slated as a three-day extravaganza celebrating local and international music, was abruptly cut short after a controversial on-stage incident involving The 1975's lead vocalist, Matty Healy.

Healy's public condemnation of Malaysia's anti-LGBTQ laws and an on-stage kiss with a male bandmate resulted in the festival's swift termination on July 21, leaving attendees and organizers disappointed.

Future Sound Asia, the brains behind GVF, took to Instagram on August 16 to outline options for those affected by the cancellation. Attendees were presented with choices, including foregoing refunds to bolster the festival's longevity or exchanging their refunds for tickets to the 2024 or 2025 editions, complemented by RM100 worth of drink coupons. Full or partial refunds remained an alternative.

In an impassioned letter to festival-goers, the organizers underscored their desire to sustain the beloved Malaysian event, appealing for empathy towards the festival's survival: "We want GVF to survive," they pleaded, urging attendees to consider #SaveGVF and delay or allocate portions of their refunds.
