In a remarkable display of courage and swift action, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the country's fourth armed and uniformed service, successfully rescued three individuals from a burning speed boat in the waters off Zamboanga City. The incident took place against the backdrop of ongoing challenges faced by the nation, including the aftermath of Typhoon Doksuri.
The speed boat, identified as the 'Fadi Laminusa Express,' was carrying three passengers when disaster struck. A fire ignited from the fuel tank and battery of the vessel, prompting the PCG's immediate response. The boat, which had departed from Marias, Baliwasan Seaside, Zamboanga City, had embarked on a sea trial before the alarming incident occurred.
The PCG swiftly dispatched a team to the scene to combat the flames and ensure the safety of those on board. Thanks to their prompt intervention, the crew members were rescued from the burning boat, although they suffered first-degree burns due to the accident.
Following the rescue operation, the Coast Guard Medical Clinic-Southwestern Mindanao provided urgent medical care to the survivors, highlighting the dedicated efforts of the PCG in safeguarding lives and minimizing the impact of the incident.
