The former Penang deputy chief minister cited the desire to operate within a broader political arena, free from the constraints of party affiliations.

Ramasamy's departure comes as he seeks to shape his political path for the future. He asserted that while he understands the necessity for change, the recent removal of prominent young leaders like Yeoh Soon Hin, Soon Lip Chen, and M. Satees was perplexing. According to Ramasamy, their dedication and contributions to both the party and state government have been undeniably commendable.

He expressed his disagreement not with DAP or Pakatan Harapan as entities, but with certain party leaders who have overlooked their invaluable service.
