UAE Delegation Strengthens Bilateral Ties Through Humanitarian and Cultural Initiatives in Sulu, Philippines

Governor Abdusakur M. Tan of Sulu recently met with a delegation from the UAE Embassy in the Philippines and the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation (Zayed CHF). The mission, headed by UAE Ambassador Mohammed Obaid Alqattam Alzaabi, was to promote cooperation in development, humanitarian help, and cross-cultural interactions.
The pledge to bolster UAE-Philippines relations with an emphasis on development and cultural interaction was brought up in the discussions. Ambassador Alzaabi reiterated the UAE's support for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) while praising Governor Tan's efforts to foster peace and stability in Sulu.
Governor Tan expressed gratitude for the UAE's visit and support, inviting investment in tourism, agriculture, and fisheries in Sulu. The delegation's visit to the historic Jolo Mosque, rebuilt with Zayed CHF's $2 million donation, symbolized the strong UAE-Philippines ties and showcased the UAE's respect for Islamic culture.
The delegation also toured humanitarian projects in Manila, funded by the UAE and Zayed CHF. These initiatives include a school for orphans, a health center for women and children, a water supply system for a remote village, and a livelihood program for displaced families. The UAE's commitment to supporting the marginalized and vulnerable sectors in the Philippines was evident through the positive impact witnessed during the visit.
Ambassador Alzaabi reaffirmed the UAE's dedication to supporting the Philippines, emphasizing the nation's role as a close friend and partner. The UAE and Zayed CHF expressed pride in contributing resources and expertise to enhance the welfare and development of the Filipino people, promising continued collaboration on humanitarian and charitable projects in the future.
