In a crucial step toward improving government efficiency, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has launched the "Work Bundle" program, a transformative project focused at streamlining employee residence requirements and work permits in private sector enterprises. This effort, part of the larger "Zero Bureaucracy" campaign, represents His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai's dedication to making government operations more accessible and user-friendly.
The first phase of the "Work Bundle" program will be launched in Dubai, with intentions to gradually expand its reach to other emirates. Sheikh Mohammed stressed the project's importance in streamlining and speeding residence and employment processes, ultimately reclaiming 62 million working days that were previously allocated to renewals under government guidelines.
Aligned with the broader "Zero Bureaucracy" program, the initiative seeks to eliminate unnecessary requirements, reduce procedures, and enhance efficiency, quality, and flexibility in the UAE. Sheikh Mohammed expressed gratitude to federal and local entities for their collaboration, highlighting the unwavering commitment to eradicating bureaucracy and making people's lives easier.
The "Work Bundle" initiative serves the business community by providing a single platform for completing employment services, including renewal, cancellation, medical examination, and fingerprinting. This landmark project is the result of close cooperation between federal and local government entities, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai. Support from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Digital Dubai ensures a seamless and efficient digital infrastructure.
As part of the UAE's broader digital transformation efforts, the "Work Bundle" initiative aims to improve the country's competitiveness in global indicators related to the ease of establishing and managing businesses for private sector companies. By providing a unified platform, the initiative reduces the number of procedures from 8 services to a single platform, streamlines required steps from 15 to 5, and minimizes the number of visits from 7 to 2. This efficiency results in a significant reduction in the time taken to complete transactions, from 30 working days to just 5.
The "Work Bundle" stands as a testament to the UAE's commitment to innovation, efficiency, and the continuous improvement of government services for the benefit of its citizens and the global business community.
