UAE's Effective Response to Extreme Weather




Hassan Al Mansoori, Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), has lauded the UAE's remarkable efficiency in addressing the aftermath of recent extreme weather conditions. Al Mansoori emphasized the proactive and swift reaction of various concerned entities, attributing it to safeguarding lives, properties, and hastening the recovery process.

He highlighted the rapid restoration of essential service facilities like roads, bridges, and dams, which resumed operations in record time. Al Mansoori underscored the importance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's directive to assess the nation's infrastructure condition comprehensively, aiming to enhance future responses.

In response to the President's order, MoEI collaborated with partners to form an on-ground task force, immediately evaluating the damages incurred due to intense rainfall. Al Mansoori detailed the forthcoming initiatives, including a comprehensive study on expanding dams and waterways to withstand future extreme weather events. Additionally, an integrated operational plan will address repairing federal roads and ensuring the continuity of rainwater drainage networks.

Furthermore, proactive measures, such as maintaining water pump stations on federal roads, are being implemented to enhance preparedness. Al Mansoori reassured the public of MoEI's integrated plans and swift emergency response schemes, aimed at ensuring the safety of individuals and safeguarding properties and infrastructure.
