For decades, the United States was viewed as the indispensable powerthe security guarantor that allowed the region’s tiger economies to flourish. However, recent events, culminating in the devastating economic fallout of the Iran war, have accelerated a trend that many in Washington failed to see coming: Southeast Asia is increasingly looking toward Beijing, not out of ideological love, but out of pragmatic necessity. Anne Hathaway Casted as ‘Verity’ in Colleen Hoover’s Book Adaptation

In front of the main character, Anne Hathaway will play the lead in the highly anticipated movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling novel Verity. With Hathaway playing the lead role of Verity Crawford, the film, directed by Michael Showalter, aims to graphically depict the novel's horrible story. On Thursday, November 21, Hoover herself made the announcement on social media, which delighted both the famous actress and book lovers.

Verity Crawford, best-selling mystery author, tells the story of Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired by Jeremy Crawford to finish a book series left unfinished by the victim of an unidentified accident. Lowen discovers terrible secrets hidden in Verity's incomplete books and gets sucked into her predecessor's personal endeavors. It starts out as a professional project but soon devolves into a psychological horror with twists and turns that make the audience wonder what is genuine and what is fake.

Hathaway’s performance as Verity Crawford is expected to give the character a layered intensity, expressing the difficult balance between Verity’s public identity as a successful author and the sinister facts revealed in her personal life.

Verity, one of Colleen Hoover's best-selling books, sells over a million copies in 2023 alone and ranks at the top of the New York Times list for months. Its distinct blend of sexual tension, psychological suspense, and breathtaking narrative twists has made it a fan favorite among Hoover's whole library.

The film adaptation, which stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, comes after Hoover's first novel-turned-film, It Ends With Us, became wildly popular. The film, released earlier this year, made an astounding $345.8 million worldwide on a $25 million production budget, paving the way for more adaptations of Hoover's works.

With her role in Verity, Anne Hathaway adds yet another ambitious endeavor to her already impressive resume. With a string of popular films and a reputation for adaptability and powerful acting, the Academy Award-winning actress has been creating a lot of talk.

Earlier this year, she starred in David Lowery's music-driven thriller Mother Mary on A24. In the much anticipated The Princess Diaries 3, fans are just as excited for her to return as Mia Thermopolis, the adored princess.

Hathaway starred with Jessica Chastain in the psychological thriller Mother’s Instinct, and recently completed filming Flowervale Street, slated for a May 2025 release. Her other recent productions are the romantic comedy The Idea of You, the adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh’s book Eileen, and the coming-of- age drama Armageddon Time.
