Indonesia Officially Joins the BRICS as a Full Member




The Republic of Indonesia formally became a full member of the BRICS on Monday, according to a statement released by Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Indonesia was able to successfully join the BRICS in 2025 thanks to the bloc leaders' support of its 2023 candidacy.


"The news by Brazil, the BRICS 2025 Chair, that Indonesia would become a full member of BRICS is warmly received by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. According to Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "this accomplishment reflects Indonesia's growing active role in global issues and its commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation to realize a more inclusive and equitable global order."

They also emphasized how important it is to strengthen their cooperation and collaboration with other developed nations, such as China and Russia, on the basis of equality, respect for one another, sustainable development, and other principles. They also emphasized how important Indonesia is to their growth and diverse economy, and how becoming a full member would help them deal with the challenges that lie ahead due to climate change and other geopolitical factors.

“We are fully dedicated to working together with all BRICS members, or with other parties, to realize the creation of a just, peaceful and prosperous world. Indonesia’s participation in BRICS is a manifestation of the constitutional mandate to play an active role in maintaining global order”, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.

They pledged to continue bridging diverse interests in several multilateral venues for the benefit of the global community through their successive contributions and participation in the BRICS Summit.
