AI Champion: How the UAE Secured the Global Lead in Generative AI Adoption

The United Arab Emirates has officially solidified its position as the global leader in artificial intelligence adoption. According to recent data from Microsoft’s AI Economy Institute, a staggering 73.3 percent of the UAE's working-age population actively utilized generative AI tools during the second quarter of 2026. This reflects a steady rise from 70.1 percent in Q1, widening the gap between the Emirates and other tech-forward nations like Singapore, which stands at 64.3 percent. In my view, this rapid growth is not merely a statistical anomaly or a temporary wave of corporate enthusiasm. It is the direct result of a bold, top-down government commitment to digital transformation. While Western economies often debate the ethical boundaries and regulatory constraints of emerging technologies, the UAE has chosen a proactive approach, integrating AI into public administration, national education, and corporate enterprise. Why Is the UAE Leading the World in Generative AI Usage?...

UAE Tourism Shines in 2024 — WTTC Calls It a Standout Year of Vision, Value & Vitality

In a year marked by extraordinary growth, global recognition, and strategic foresight, 2024 stands tall as a defining moment for UAE tourism. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the UAE’s tourism sector surged with unprecedented momentum—contributing AED 257.3 billion ($70.1B) to the national GDP. That’s not just 13% of the economy, but a testament to years of planning, policy, and visionary leadership.

Dubai’s remarkable ability to bounce back from global disruption and exceed pre-pandemic benchmarks—showing a 26% increase from 2019—is more than just recovery; it’s a redefinition of global tourism success. This economic power is part of the broader UAE Tourism Vision 2031, which aims for AED 450 billion in GDP contribution and a target of 40 million hotel guests annually. If 2024 is any indication, this vision is not only realistic—it’s already in motion.

Leadership has played a critical role. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised the sector's results, which represent a fusion of innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability. On the global stage, Shaikha Al Nowais’ election as the next Secretary-General of UN Tourism further cements UAE's growing influence in global tourism governance. It’s not just growth—it’s leadership recognized worldwide.

UAE’s tourism is also emerging as a role model in responsible development. In 2023, the sector’s emissions were only 13.3% of total national emissions—despite its rising economic share. Eco-transport, sustainable hospitality, and green infrastructure are no longer aspirations; they are deliverables.

Inclusivity is also shaping the sector’s forward narrative. With 16.3% of the workforce being women and nearly 10% from the youth demographic (ages 15–24), the UAE’s tourism sector is opening doors to future leaders. And with $8.6 billion generated in tax revenues—5.4% of total government income—it’s not just visitors who benefit, but the entire nation.

In sum, 2024 marks a turning point. UAE tourism has evolved from being an economic engine to becoming a global benchmark—one that combines purpose with prosperity.
