The United Arab Emirates has taken a groundbreaking step in healthcare and urban mobility with the launch of its first hospital-based vertiport at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. This initiative, known as Sky Care, marks a regional and global first, merging AI-driven healthcare with advanced air mobility.
Developed in collaboration with Archer Aviation and supported by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the project introduces the Midnight eVTOL aircraft, an electric vertical takeoff and landing system designed to transport patients, medical teams, and organs rapidly across the city.
Unlike traditional helicopters, the Midnight aircraft offers a quieter, cleaner, and more sustainable alternative for emergency medical transport. The initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader AI transformation strategy, which places AI officers in every ministry to ensure technology enhances trust, sustainability, and patient outcomes.
The Sky Care project represents a significant leap toward integrating healthcare and air mobility infrastructure, reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in smart city innovation. It also sets a model for countries across Asia and the Middle East, where similar systems could revolutionize patient care and emergency response.
As the world looks toward the future of healthcare and sustainable mobility, the UAE’s vision continues to lead the way — from the ground to the skies.
